Cooling
Jim came out the other night and helped me drain the coolant, get the radiator off, and remove the old water pump and fan assembly. We tried a number of insane things to get the bolt off the fan coupling but it didn’t budge. At one point we had the water pump in a vice, I twisted a belt around a piece of wood and the water pump and Jim pulled on the bolt with the wrench. It wasn’t moving so he took it (and the new water pump) with him to work where a guy with air tools took it off and put it on the new water pump. Thanks to the guys on brickboards.com who confirmed that it a right hand threaded bolt
That would have been a big mistake to make with air tools! I’m going to take the radiator to Bruffey’s in town to have them check it out and steam clean it. With a new water pump, clean radiator, fresh coolant, and new belts I cant imagine it will overheat again. I think I may take out the AC condenser too while we have the radiator out. The bottom is a bit busted up and it’s only impeding airflow to the radiator.
