      I just discovered your posts;  nice to find a fellow 164
enthusiast.  I&#039;ve owned three; #3 has sat idle for two years
due to auto-tranny trouble.  

      I noticed your comment that the &quot;front valance&quot; is made of special metal requiring unique paint treatment.
I assume that you&#039;re referring to the front headlight panel.
I&#039;ve never heard this mentioned anyplace else; where did 
you learn this?  

       When you install your new blower unit you&#039;ll find a
rubber sealing collar at the very top of the white plastic
housing; it will probably be in bad shape, so try to have a 
new  (or decent used)  one on hand.  They MAY still be available through dealers; can&#039;t give you the part number now, I&#039;m not at home.  

       Do you know about the site GCP.se?  You can download the entire 164 factory parts catalog. A real blessing!  

       Remember--there&#039;s no other vehicle quite like a 164--
